Review Service
for the Social
Fund |

The Social
Fund Commissioner heads the IRS and is appointed by the Secretary of State for
Social Security. This is a statutory appointment, with duties provided by Acts
of Parliament. The Commissioner is required to
report
annually, in writing, to the Secretary of State on the standard of
reviews by Social Fund Inspectors.
The Inspectors and other
staff appointed by the Commissioner, together form the Independent Review
Service for the discretionary Social Fund.
